my notebook can not detect the optical drive?
im using Acer Ferrari 1000 and can not detect IEEE 1394 external optical drive. than is supposed to be Plug n Play but when plugged it, its not detected. I tried to insert a different DVD DVD (treated) were answered and listened to the CD rotation but then stops and nothing happened. when you press the button to eject the CD out so I guess that the unit is working well, what could be the problem? the cable, the port? or the driver? a couple of months I was sent an Acer service store to get it fixed (screen went blank) after havent tried external drive, but I remember it works well before. I have read the user guide and what is known as IEEE 1394 Acer external optical drive. Su says: "Use the cable IEEE 1394 in the accessory box to connect the IEEE. "
