Ferrari Driver Academy Announced on Ferarri.com

cuderia Ferrari, a division of Ferrari concerned with racing and is renown for being the most successful and oldest F1 racing team in history, announced on December 18th, 2009, that they will be starting up a “Ferrari Driver Academy.” The academy’s goal is to recruit young racing drivers across the globe, with aims to prepare them for the F1 Racing atmosphere. Led by Chief Track Engineer for Ferrari’s F1 team, Luca Baldisserri, he aims to not only wants to prepare them in terms of racing, but also wants to shape all recruits’ personal and professional background to fit that of an F1 Ferrari Racing team member.
“This programme has a very clear goal: to help youngsters develop to the point where, one day, they could fly the Ferrari flag in the Formula 1 World Championship,” said Stefano Domenicali, principal driver of Ferrari F1. “We plan to take an original approach, covering every angle with them, so that they are as well prepared as possible to tackle every aspect of modern day motor sport.”
The program’s premise basically involves selecting a group of young drivers and over a span of several years, they will go through several stages that will harness their F1 racing potential; first they will get started on kart racing and continue through intermediate race tracks. The ACI-CSAI will play a huge role with the program, offering their racing school at Vallelunga, Italy to the program’s full disposal.
The first driver to be admitted into the program is Jules Bianchi, winner of the 2009 Drivers’ and Teams’ title in the Formula 3 Euroseries.
